‘Taking Stock’ is a 20 minute film made over a twelve month period with Joe Lee and the service users from the Inchicore Community Drug Team. The film was commissioned as a media arts project in the context of the tenth anniversary of local drugs services in Inchicore. The idea of the project was to give the people who use the service a voice in planning a future for the Inchicore Community Drug Team. Thirty one participants worked with film maker Joe Lee contributing their stories, photographs and assistng with filming. ‘Taking Stock’ traces the journey of local drug users, their decent into addiction, the impact on themselves and their loved ones and their struggles to overcome addiction. The film highlights the importance of local services in supporting people deal with the consequences of drug abuse in their lives.
